# Into Practice

Into Practice, a biweekly communication distributed to active instructors during the academic year, was inspired by a successful [2012 HILT grant project](https://hilt.harvard.edu/resource/cultivating-communities-practice-graduate-student-teaching). The e-letter highlights the pedagogical practices of individual faculty members from across schools and delivers timely, evidence-based teaching advice, contributing to and strengthening a University-wide community of practice around teaching.

  [### Sheila Heen

](/learning-negotiate-making-mistakes)**“We really think of teaching as a negotiation—negotiating with students for their willingness to be engaged, to try something new, to own their mistakes and be open and self-reflect. As faculty, we need to be role modeling that ourselves and be fellow learners in the classroom alongside our students.”**
