HarvardX Committees

  • Faculty Committee
    chaired by Robert Lue, Professor of the Practice of Molecular and Cellular Biology in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences; Director of Life Sciences Education; Richard L. Menschel Faculty Director of the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning

    The Provost has tasked the HarvardX Faculty Committee with encouraging broad faculty participation in HarvardX/edX, establishing guidelines and standards for HarvardX courses and modules, and helping to marshal resources for developing these materials.

  • Research Committee
    co-chaired by Andrew Ho, Associate Professor of Education, Harvard Graduate School of Education, and Daniel Levy, Senior Lecturer in Public Policy, Harvard Kennedy School Faculty Chair, SLATE, Harvard Kennedy School

    The HarvardX Research Committee is responsible for coordinating and supporting research initiatives involving HarvardX courses.
  • Leadership Committee
    chaired by Provost Alan M. Garber
    The HarvardX leadership committee oversees the Faculty and Research Committees, facilitates school-based interactions with HarvardX/edX, and is responsible for informing operational and business decisions of edX and their potential impact on the University.

Harvard Initiative for Learning and Teaching (HILT) Committees

  • Faculty Grant Selection Committee
    The inaugural HILT Grants program was designed to catalyze innovative activities and promote effective learning and teaching across the University. Harvard faculty, students, deans, administrators, and postdoctoral researchers with instructional roles were eligible to apply for funding of up to $50K, individually or as groups. A Faculty Selection Committee chose proposals that included a mixture of these qualities and emphasized extendability in their decision-making process. 
  • Teaching and Learning Consortium
    co-chaired by Susan Fliss, Associate Librarian of Harvard College for Research, Teaching and Learning, and Matt Miller, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Harvard Graduate School of Education

    The HILT Teaching & Learning Consortium (TLC) brings together key representatives across the University to work together to catalyze and support innovation in teaching and learning. TLC members provide pedagogical and academic technology support in their respective school or university unit including the development and execution of HILT activities such as grant projects. Importantly, the TLC fosters a dynamic and useful network among its members, to share best practices, promote dialogue, build community, and address common challenges with each other and their colleagues.
